The tweet that started it all

I have Stage IV lung cancer, and this wasn’t my first rodeo. (You can read my full cancer story here.)

My cancer metastasized to my brain, and on Sept. 23, 2022 I began radiation treatment to get rid of it. I’ve been through quite a few other regimens, and every time I’ve started a new one I have worn a special, custom t-shirt for the first course. This time was no different.

I was feeling especially feisty and decided to tweet out a photo taken in front of the radiation equipment.

To my surprise, a lot of people noticed! The tweet had over 32,000 likes and about 1,300 comments. Quite a few people asked where they could get a t-shirt of their own. I saw an opportunity, and reached out to an organization I’ve supported in the past, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, for help.

Research is what will eradicate lung cancer for good, and if my t-shirt can raise a few dollars to that end, I’m all in. Proceeds from my storefront are donated towards funding grants that will lead to the next big breakthrough.
